Mural Artist Nina Elder asks, “What sustains?”

Zoom presentation (https://usd.zoom.us/j/7987380949)

Artist and researcher Nina Elder travels the globe to explore how the natural environment is changing through human-centered activities. Her virtual presentation weaves together unlikely associations between piles of rocks, military secrets, climate change, obsolete communication technology, remote landscapes, meteorites, and the need for curiosity. Students will explore the question of “What sustains?” through a series of prompts about geology, deep time, ancestral history, and potential futures. The words generated through this exercise will become a mural that Nina will paint on campus. ninaelder.com
