A Brief Descent into Deep Time – An Evening with John Luther Adams
Farber Hall (Room 111, Old Main, USD campus)
Come and enjoy an evening with Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer John Luther Adams as part of Vermillion Earth Days. A deep concern for the state of the earth and the future of humanity drives Adams to continue composing. As he puts it: “If we can imagine a culture and a society in which we each feel more deeply responsible for our own place in the world, then we just may be able to bring that culture and that society into being.” At USD, Adams will be reading one of his recent essays “Down the Mountain” followed by a conversation with the maestro of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) Delta David Gier about the upcoming world premiere of Adams’ An Atlas of Deep Time with the SDSO on 30 April.
Tickets are still available for the SDSO concert. A limited number of tickets to the SDSO concert are available for free to USD students thanks to the College of Arts & Sciences. Please contact Meghann Jarchow (Meghann.Jarchow@usd.edu) if you are a student and would like a free ticket.
